HORLEY, UK — January 27th , 2015 With the acquisition of the SIMPOL™ intellectual property, Superbase Software Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Papatuo Holdings Ltd, has been established to provide support, consultancy and training for Superbase™ both legacy Superbase and Superbase Next Generation (NG) based on SIMPOL™. Users can be confident of on-going support for their legacy Superbase-based systems. Legacy Superbase licenses and products can be purchased from the Digital River website. Superbase Software Limited are also offering a related range of paid support and professional services.
The rejoining of the two aspects of the Superbase platform, the legacy product and the next generation version is welcome news to existing users who are planning the future for their legacy Superbase systems in an increasingly 64-bit world. The road forward from a legacy Superbase system to a modern state-of-the-art software development package is easier to travel than ever before. Whether the move is all at once or the measured approach of a planned, phased migration to a SIMPOL-based Superbase NG system.
SIMPOL, (originally conceived as Superbase International Multi-platform Object Language — now just SIMPOL), is the natural successor to Superbase, designed and built by the team who developed the last 5 Superbase products. SIMPOL provides an easy to use and learn cross-platform programming language, library components, database engine and RAD tools.
“Like any shift to a newer version of a product, the initial move to SIMPOL may feel difficult, but our users that have persevered have all told us that programming in SIMPOL, where they once couldn’t imagine it, is much more enjoyable than when they were working with Superbase Basic Language. Also with the database compatibility between Superbase NG and Superbase 3.6i or later using PPCS, our customers can choose to gradually migrate their systems over the course of months or even years”, said Neil Robinson, Technical Director of Superbase Software Limited.
He added, “This news is good for legacy Superbase users, who are restricted by the fact that although the legacy Superbase products run on most 32-bit Windows® systems; they will not run on 64-bit Windows®. Superbase NG, based on SIMPOL has no such restriction.”
SIMPOL Professional, was launched in April 2009, so is stable and proven; it runs on Windows and Linux platforms (soon to include the Raspberry Pi) with Mac® OS-X® support under consideration.
